Smart Space Design–A Framework and an IoT Prototype Implementation

In the last decade, need for smart-space design has been on rise. Various data collected from Internet-of-Things (IoT) and sensors are used to optimize operation of smart spaces, which, in urban areas, evolving into cities. How can spaces provide value citizens? There is a develop services that leverage emerging technologies while taking an inclusive empowering approach inhabitants. To address this need, we present framework designing use bottom-up (inclusive) instantiate kiosk (SK). The SK prototype provides practical transforming traditional building space utilizing IoT artificial intelligence technologies. science research (DSR) methodology was followed evaluating prototype. An iterative process involves occupant feedback brainstorming sessions coupled with literature review carried out identify issues related building. implements three intelligent were prioritized by citizens results show high usage acceptance rate it transform lobby highly engaged space. prototyping suggests important factors ideate assess shows small-scale projects be successful enable buildings. theoretical contribution development assists practitioners identifying developing based technology.
